Troubleshooting some problems with a laptop. This system does NOT have the following issues: -ac power jack malfunction -cpu overheat -chassis/shielding short circuits -display problems, LCD connectivity or anything related The problem: -The computer simply shuts itself off after being moved just slightly, or it eventually powers itself off when use after 5 to 10 minutes of normal use. -most likely something wrong with the motherboard What i have attempted so far: -Laying the laptop on its screen side has been the only way to get the laptop working continuously without powering itself off. I was able to have this computer running steadily for 3 hours while it was layed in this awkward position. - this computer only runs properly in a certain position or it will not boot, sometimes slightly bending the mainboard upwards solves this, or putting something beneath the mainboard to apply just little pressure upwards (i used cardboard) has helped. I did my best not to put too much strain on the solder joints or traces which may cause a mircro-crack. My theory & question: 1 The issue i believe is due to something wrong with the motherboard and is electrical in nature. Something has a poor electrical connection, a trace is damaged, or a component has a cold joint. How should i pinpoint the part of the mainboard that needs soldering?
